Ok so I dont know much about the TB FI system used but the bacic disine. I ask this for my old man he's got a 89 3/4 ton GM van with the TB injection 350 with the 700r4 (the HOT ROD as some call it ) and sometims in "R" it will stall, not rite away thow is this a problem with the throtel body or a sencer or somthing. I replaced the cap, roter, plugs and wiers and will see if that helps  oh yeah and before it stalls the engine shuters like it's runing on 4 or somthing

Thanks for the input

BTW I love this setup (minus the 700r4) and swar by it

TCC Silenoid

This is the torque converter lockup switch. The switch is freaking out and locking the converter up when you place the tranny in reverse. They usually stick while driving down the road but it can happen in reverse also (probably do to the increased line pressure)

It is basically like having a manual tranny and coming to the stop sign with your foot onthe brake and not stepping on the clutch.

Not really a good sign for the 700R4. It is probably getting ready to hatch anyways.

the TCC solenoid failing on a 700 is pretty damn rare! besides, the only time it will engage is in 3rd and 4th gear, so i severely doubt that it's causing the problem.
does the check engine light ever come on? i'd take it to a shop that is equipped with the proper scanner and find out what's really going on! :rasta:

I had the same type thing happen on my truck, but not only in reverse. I changed every sensor on the engine(TPS, MAP, AIV) along with all the stuff you mentioned. It turned out to be the EGR, it was stuck open slightly and at light throttle it was sucking in exhaust and the engine would stutter and die. You might want to check it.

If you do want to look at the OBD codes its really easy you can do it yourself, on that engine it still has OBD 1 so you don't need the special code readers. Here's (http://www.batauto.com/Gm.html) a page with instructions and codes. Good luck
