I just bought a 2001 2500 HD with the 6.0 and Allison Transmission. I planned to put 33"s on it. I heard the tranny's computer shift points go nuts with different size tires and will cause it to go burn up in a short amount of time. Any one else heard this? Where can I get it reprogrammed? Thanks
(My 97 C3500 with 6.5Turbo Diesel is for sale!!)

I'm pretty sure that with a gas engine, you can get your truck reprogrammed to different tire sizes pretty easily. With the Duramax, you can't (yet). Just take to a dealer (that knows his stuff).

did you get it special ordered with the allison transmission? my understanding was the allison transmission was only to be used with the duramax diesel or the 496 big block..I could be wrong. My 2001 2500 hd came with a 4L80E...:D

I was told by the salesman and another that it was the Allison but I looked it up and it is the 4L80E!! Im sorta relieved. Ive heard some bad things about it but Im guessing the 4L80E will take it just fine. Did any of you crank the torsion bars to get an extra inch in the front? Im sure 33"s will fit but I want to make sure, THANKS

both the 4l80e and the allison are good trannies, especially when you compare them to what the competition has to ofer (E4OD and 518):smokin:
the only reason why 4l80s got a slightly bad rep is that they have some electrical problems, but yours has all the updates so you should not have any problems anytime soon.:D

Wouldnt turning the torsion bars make it ride like it didnt have any suspension at all? My 02 HD 1500 rides stiff as hell as it is. Besides only getting 12 mpg the thing sets too low the only problems with the truck.

Well. your truck probly has a 245-75-16 10ply (Short Stiff Sidewall)
When going to a 305 you get a much larger sidewall and a 8ply
A friend of mine has the exact same setup and it rides great and looks awsome!!
