Looking at the photo's Henry Posted, I am wondering what good books I am missing about LC travels?

"Who needs a Road" is a classic, thankfully it has been reprinted.Amazon link (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0964252155/qid=1018886919/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_71_1/102-9627075-5700123)

"50th Aniversary" is great. SOE (Spector Off Road)

"Miles from Nowhere" is NOT LC related, but enjoyed the book about cycling so much, that I took off and spent four week bicycling around New Zealand some years back. Yep, Solo trip... didn't know a sole there and just what I needed. Link here (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0898861098/qid=1018887037/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/102-9627075-5700123)

Yes, time to go camping and get away from the house & shop... one of the rare times I'll pick up a book (& stay away from the computer!).

Check out "Sahara Overland" by Chris Scott. Great book from a guy who makes a living guiding expeditions in the Northern Sahara. Although he's British and the vast majority of his clients are Brits who drive Land Rovers, Chris continues to drive a 60 series Land Cruiser. Lots of information on expedition-preparation, obviously skewed towards desert-type environments and the Sahara itself, but a very cool book.

If you do or do not cycle check Lance Armstrongs book, Not About the Bike. Also what ever happened to the book that the TLCA was doing? Did it come out and I missed it?

Still delayed, still in progress. We got hit hard by 9/11, the printer we were using went belly up and we had to go to an overseas printer, which handles orders from all over the world and could only fit us for this slot. I think the wait will be worth it, I have a sample of the book sitting on my living room and it looks great!

I just thought of another book, you might already know about it, but since you didn't mention it:

Das Grosse Toyota Land Cruiser Buch, printed in German by A/C Verlag. While the whole thing is in German, it's got a TON of Land Cruiser photos, and the best thing is the tables of technical data, engine data and information (for ALL TLC engines), etc... Well worth the price.

FYI
I bought my copy of Das Grosse Toyota Landcruiser Buch a few years back from www.german-book.com. The price with shipping to the US was DM 55.80, which was about twenty five bucks. Great book. If you are interested in other 4x4s, they also make Das Grosse "Patrol/Unimog/Landrover etc" Buchs. Some of them are pretty interesting.HTH
