i dont have a shop, i put an 18x15x6x15x ~8 foot pitched roof on the side of my house to cover my fab area, i dont have a shop, im not rich, ill post pix in the morning. my truck sits in the driveway, i just have to drag the welder/plasma/grinders/chop saw out of my 'designated work area'...

the structure follows the roof linew of the side of the house and is built of 2x6 and 2x4's with a coorigated pvc paneled roof. i have 220, 110 and air, a 4x8 wedling fab table, big fat tool box, beer cooler with unlimited ice amd misters on the roof when the temp hits triple digits. next im doing some flourescent lighting so i can work past 4pm in hte winter...

I have a carport(in AZ which is fun in the summer.) My game room is also where I store my tools. I use my trailer and my recyling bin for cutting and fabbing tables.

Gravel driveway, and part of the side yard. It's a royal PITA to work there, but it's what I've got. I have to do my welding at someone elses house, or haul the rig out to my parents farm (125 miles), I'm afraid I'll set my stupid yard on fire. :D

how about pulling the entire interior out on a dirt driveway. And what you thought was rain for the last few minutes ends up being a big ass flock of birds in the tree leaving black birdshit all over everything.

I can sympathize with ya piggie, not having a real driveway sucks the big one.

I did the whole disc brake setup for my 9" in the laundry/furnace room of my old apt. :flipoff2:

I've actually done that. It's amazing how far a fire can get in 20-30 seconds from one spark.

After that, I welded on a wet lawn.

Yeah, my in-law's dog. Can you tell he's a PITA from the pic? :shaking:

A few years ago I used to work out of two steel 10x20 storage unit bays with the center wall taken down. Screamin hot in the summer, friggen cold in the winter. Those two bays cost me more than half of what my mortgage is now, but it was worth it to me to have a place to work out of.

I pulled the light buld socket out, and tapped in to the power so I could run a 110 welder and air compressor.
Built and maintained a championship winning 2 car SCCA racing team for my boss, and started building the xj out of there. Always had beers on ice.

Kinda miss that place sometimes. There weren't as many distractions to keep me from my work, and the tools could only go so far from where you're working. I now spend most of my nights doing laps around the garage looking for the wrenches I just had in my hand.

Me I'm not to bad, but my old man :shaking: he has a 20 x 60 meter shed, thats 60' x 180' and he works in a 3 x 3 meter area agains the doors at the front... the yard out front is mud becouse we get tomuch rain, if you've got to do something to a wagon you park outside and throw boards down, it got bad enough he made a metal detector so he could find missing nuts and bolts  and the odd tool that got lost in the mud:laughing:
The really fun part about my old mans shed... and the reason I'm so anal about keeping things organised, he is the only one who knows where everything is, this is how things went, growing up

This "shop" has seen it's share of work since I moved in.
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y257/Fryloc/17a2bcea.jpg
Right inside the door is the beer fridge, stereo, toolbox, 110 plugs, 220 plug (nice "cart"!) and a small bathroom.
Once I swapped cams in a Chevy half ton, at night, while snowing. The worst part isn't rain (just do something under the truck) or dark, it's picking up all the tools at the end of the day.

It is on their property in northern PA. They have 19 acres and their house is 10x as nice as that garage! Anyway, it is 32 feet deep and 38 feet wide, two 7'x 7' doors and a 10' x 10' in the middle, and another 7' x 7' in the back. There is a loft upstairs that is 10' wide and goes the full 32'.

Here is the inside. They don't even use it for vehicles!!!

Oh yeah... but back on topic now :D

I agree with the post above. At least it was covered. My first work space was in a grass field. I live in oregon were it rains for 8 months out of the year. Then next work area was in the gravel, with no cover. About a year ago I finally got a shop and its pretty small.

Kurtuleas
06-08-2006, 09:04 AM
It's called a "crusin cooler" I think some guy out your way invented them. There are both gas and electric models, mine is the smaller electric engine. It retails for about $350 with the seat.

I used to own a 94 Dodge Viper rt-10 and that got NOWHERE the amount of attention this cooler gets. Just last night there was a wednesday night street fair in a nearby town and I was rolling it with my 2 year old, I must have got stopped 30 times with people asking me where I bought it.

I bought it from 19thholecarts.com, which is in the town I live in, but if you just google it you could find a place closer.
