So, I did a search and read over all the old Daily Topics, I couldn't find 12/07 - Gauges.

I'm going to be re-doing all the wiring and gauges this summer. So, should I splurge and get Autometer, or just save my money and get Autozone specials?

I'd like to get all electrical (save the speedo) gauges, Water temp, tranny temp, oil pressure, volts, fuel, speedo, and tach. Has anyone redone their dashes and put in the new gauges? If so, any tips for me?

BTW, I've seen what the guy did on jpeater.com, just trying to get a second opinion.

Also, speaking of wiring things up, I plan on re-doing the wiring and I was curious if anyone has done this, did you go with Painless, Centech, or something else? Anything to watch out for here? Thanks.

I just ordered a set of the VDO Millenium gauges. My second choice were the Auto Meter Ultra Lites. I have a custom dash overlay I bought from Scott Automotive in Tennessee. I can get you his number if you want to pm me.

We probably never discussed the topic, the DT died some time ago.

Are you up for the challenges of a rewire? I would recommend if you can afford it purchase Molex crimpers and plugs, painless also sells a weather tight version. The setup will produce very clean factory looking plugs that will allow you to unplug accessories. And you can avoid butt connectors where ever possible. I'll post some pics later of the Molex crimper and plugs. If you can afford it go with Autometer or a quality quage you really want to know what is going on with the engine.

From what I've seen of the painless kits very nice, quality design. I like the fact that the block is already terminated with the wires, all the wires are labeled etc.

I'm studying Electrical Engineering. I'm hoping something I learned in school might help? Actually I've done wiring a bunch, it's just been of the stereo install variety.

Never heard of Molex. I'd love to check them out.

I was leaning towards Centech cause I've heard better reports of them. hmmm....

SSIIProp: Are his anything like this:Scout Connection (http://www.scoutconnection.com/products&services/parts/index.htm)

Yeah his are very similar except on mine the gauges are in a straight line and not staggered on the side. I just have the plastic piece that will be bolted to the existing gauge panel. You will have to cut into the dash with a hole saw to make these fit as well.

Sounds good. Maybe I'll even get lucky and it will be less expensive than Scout Connection's. So, can you give me a # or an e-mail? Thanks.
