What size Mig wire do most of you folks use. I'm running gas and most of the stuff being welded is .120 and .25 thichness. Thanks...

I use .030 wire in my Lincoln SP-175 Plus. Works well up to .250 thick.

BTW: I'm using a Millermatic 175.

I'm no expert but I like the .030 with 75/25 mix. Pretty flexible for most fabrication projects. I never switch to smaller stuff except for thin sheet. I also have a Miller 175.

I run a Millermatic 250X and use .035" mild steel wire on 75/25 mix. If I have to weld thin sheet I use a Lincoln Weldpack 100 with .023 on the bottle also.

very far from a pro but .030 with 75/25 has been working good for me so far. old school millermatic 35.

.035 for thick stuff and .025 for thin. stuff. The difference is like night and day. Feed wheels are cheap and are easy to change.

Im using a lincoln 200.

I'm runnin .035 with 75/25 on Lincoln 200. No need to go any bigger for .25" stuff.

Normally .035. I just recently tried some .030, and like it for the thinner stuff, but prefer the .035 for thicker. .023 is nice for sheet, but I have trouble running it due to the 15' long lead on my gun; unless I really care about warpage on a particular project, its usually more hassle than it worth (on my particular setup).

I run mix gas on a Millermatic 35 that pre-dates me by a few years. :D

I use .035 wire and straight C02.......... I can weld 16 guage,
all the way up to 1/2 plate in a single pass. The gas only
becomes an issue at very high current/temps........And it only
provides for less weld spatter, the weld puddle is just as shielded
as if it were 75/25 mix gas........ Striaght C02 is alot cheaper
than mix gas...

I run .035 ER70 S3 or ER70 S6 with a 75/25 mix on a Miller 185 for 1/8" - 1/2" material. This is equivelant to 7018 stick.

I run .030 for anything thinner than 1/8". I would run .023 if I could but it doesn't feed through my whip consistently.
