View Full Version : Your big jack stands..

Lets see the pics! I want to build a set of my own jackstands that are capable of supporting a rig from the bumper or frame, allowing axles to droop etc. 6 tons are a decent height but the base is small...Basically I need to support a Jeep frame, or an axle at lets say waist height.

I am thinking some 2" receiver tubing, a WIDE base/footprint, supports running up the side..

Gimmie some ideas. I wanna pick up some material on my way home from work.

I don't know that I would even bother building my own. I picked up some pipe stands from the local Airgas that are rated for I believe 2000# each (might be lesss but I know it was plenty for my toyota). They're fairly light with a very wide base that is collapsable. Not sure on the heights, somewhere around 30 inches at the lowest to 48 inches or something, though I have only used mine at the lowest height. They have been rock solid. Something like 70 bucks a piece though. Here's a crappy pic 247017
