Has any one fabricated their own winch mounting plate for TJ. Any one have pictures or dimensions? I tried a search but couldn't find anything. If any one takes a trip to Oahu e-mail me at iankawikahunt@hotmail.com and I'll show you of our islands wheeling spots.

Mahalo,
Ian

Check the Winch Mounting Plates at Harbor Freight. Good Prices. then have a buddy reinforce it a little if they dont end up being genuine Ramsey plates.

I used 3/8" plate for my mount, Warn recommends 1/4". Landed the entire front of my rig on a couple of times no problems. Easy to fab, just takes time and paitence.

I,ve made two for my TJ. 1, out of a piece of 1/4 in. "I" beam out of a trailor house. 1, out of a new piece of 1/4 in. chanle iron. Just mesure it all out real carefull, drill the holes ya need, and whalla ya got a custon made winch plate, for a whole lot less then store bought ! <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

Yea, just finished one. My goal was to raise it and set it back further from the front to accomidate my existing bumper. I didn't like the idea of my fairlead out past the bumper.

Built two "boxes" (not exactly cubes though); bolted them onto the frame to get my height. then mounted the winch to a plate which bolted to the "boxes".

Very simplified explanation. Let me know if you want more detail. Absoultely STRONG as sh*t!
