: ujoint greasing ?

Had to replace the rear driveshaft ujoints on the XJ and decided to get the Precision Super Strength model to use. Instead of your normal grease zirc these have a hole drilled into the end of one cap that a plug screws into. I cant find anyone that carries a zirc small enough for the hole and one was not provided with it. Also, the hole is too large to grease it to my satisfaction with a needle as it just pushes the grease out around the needle without building up enough pressure to get to the other caps. With that being said, does anyone else use these, and how do you grease them?

TIA

the needle you are talkign about, is made for this if its the needle grease fitting, you need to get it seated correctly in there for it to not squirt out the sides, why not regular spicer's though?

The needle I have is from NAPA. It bottoms out in the cross before seating. Even if it does, I don't see how it will hold pressure as it will just be me holding the tube end there. I didn't use spicers because no one locally has them and I needed to get the rig moving (wife's DD).

Nope, any of the major parts stores carry them? The one I bought the ujoints from had no clue....

I would think so, if not you could try a driveshaft shop or maybe even ace hardware. I would just print that pic out and take it with you to the store.

Have you checked with the parts store and looked in another box? Maybe your's just happens to be missing the grease fitting. Check another box and see if it has all the parts. Or check with the manufacturer and see what part they recommend if it is not included with the U joint.
I think you are just missing some parts, all the U joint I've bought come with zerks, c-clips, etc

Yes, I went back to the parts store. They pulled one off the shelf and it had the same parts as the other two I bought. I would ask the manufacturer, but they do not have any contact information on their website for technical support unless you are a distributor. I agree that normally the joints come with everything you need, this is the first time I purchased this series and, given the PITA they have been with this issue, probably the last.

Call bobby long his 300m joints use the same fitting. if not Bobby call Jack his CTMs do too. it is a flush style grease zerk and you should be able to get them from any drive lins shop or look at old CVs in the yard and pul them out of there.
