I have just installed a 350 in my '73 FJ40 and I had bought a set of ram horn manifolds and tried to install them and one will not fit due to the sterring box my questions is will the block hugger headers fit? I know another style stock manifold will fit but did not want to use those. Is there anything else that might work?

Go down to your local motor shop and look at different designs of headers and find one that will fit. Or get a Summit or Jegs catalog and compare.

if the rams horn manifolds wont work the block hugger headers will be even tighter a fit.

Biggs, I hate to say this, since since yer doing the 350 you may as well bite into the PS conversion at the same time. This will give you room for huggers or rams. Plus, you've likely got all the junk out of the way for the fab work.
IIRC, huggers DO have more clearance, but not much. Also IMO, the fenderwell exit headers suck.
When I ordered my huggers from Summit, the sales guy quizzed me if I thought they'd work....he did say if they didn't Summit had a free return policy, I'd only be out shipping. May be worth the experiment...
There are some headers designed for REALLY tight installations too....not sure who carries them, but Summit might. The essentially sweep straight back from the first cylinder inline....not great for scavenging exhaust gas, but workable.

Biggs, I ran into the same problem,I orderd block huggers from summit but not enough room. I couldnt return them, cause I beat them up trying to make them work.I did a little grinding on the ramhorns and they work fine. I agree with Woody about the p/s, I am in the process of doing my p/s now . Good Luck:beer: :D
