What Cam are you using in your Caddy 500? Are those open or closed chambered heads? What size valves and compression are you running? Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the info. If you had to do it again would you put the same Cam in it?

Yes and no...

If I had the intention of building another "occasional use" motor, then yes I would use the same cam again. That cam cost me alot of money when you consider that running it means you need to upgrade valve sizes, port the heads, and run some type of shaft mounted rocker arms to support the heavy springs.

I have plans of building another 513 caddy, but this one will be more budget minded and for a tow rig. In this application I would not use the same cam.

What did it take to put Chevy BB headers on a Caddy?

You can buy headder flange kits from CMD or MTS or Rad Cad. Next time I will make my own.:p Headders and all. :D

Any idea what kind of numbers it puts out?
500 hp and 600 Lbs according to my supplier (CMD/Cad Company)

For those who are concerned, I would recommend using Maximum Torque Specialties rather than CMD.

Thanks for the info. I am trying to gather some info on what cam would be best for me and to give the cam grinder the info on what seems to be working. The only Caddies that we have built is for all out racing. I have not built a Caddy for street use. Look at my web page and you can see some of our Caddy stuff that we have built.
