I saw this yesterday. The CJ fit perfectly in the dump trailer. Pretty creative, I thought. It had never occured to me to do that, and it's a trailer that would have more than one use for me.

I did not see any tiedowns on it, but then he was doing about 45mph and I was about to get rear ended by slowing down to look at it, so I did not spend long gazing.

That might explain why the guy was going so slow even though his tow rig was a Kenworth.

I have hauled mine in the back of a 10 wheeler dump truck if that counts. I don't see why that wouldn't work if the jeep was narrow enough.

If the trailer can handle the weight then yes, I see no reason why it wouldn't work:rolleyes:

Only problem I'd see is that most dump trailers are fairly small, but if you get one that fits then hell, why not? A dump trailer that can fit your rig will most definately have the weight capacity, and you can easily weld some tie downs to the trailer.

We have a 85 f350 single cab with a hydralic dump bed on the back. It is the most handy vehicle anyone we know of has owned execpt for the horible mileage and no power. It is always borrowed by friends mostly for the 1.5yard(or bigger i havent measured) hydralic dump bed. Anyways, we tried to put a cj5 in the back of it and it was 5 inchs to short. My mom's cj2a will fit in there perfectly(snug). We never went anywhere with it in the back but we know we can if we need to.
Our friend Tom did use it to haul his tractor down from seattle though. I want a 2.5 ton dump tuck now so i can get rid of my diesel truck and my trailer to tow around my jeep and other items. The ford isnt going to last much longer and I cant wait to upgrade!

Most of the ones I have seen have heavy duty d-rings on the floor, I would imagine this is because so many people like to haul a bobcat around in them. I don't know what a bobcat weighs but it cant be too far from a jeep. Hell now that I think about it my buddies even came with ramps

I think the limiting factor is going to be the width of the dump box. Any rig that needs to "drive over the fenders" of a standard trailer isn't going to fit in the box. Other than that.... game on!

If you notice in the picture there are slide-in ramps. I don't know why it never occured to me that I could use a dump trailer my Jeep too. I've always wanted one, but could not justify it because I barely have enough room for my car trailer. I'm gonna think about trading in the car trailer on a dump trailer big enough to haul the Jeep. The only other thing I use it for is to get 20' sticks of steel because I don't have a rack on the truck, but I could jimmy something up.

We have a dump trailer for work its 14' long and 82" inside. It came with d rings inside and slide in ramps. We also use it to haul our Bobcat. The only down side is that they are pretty heavy.

i wouldn't worry too much about the gvw of a dump trailer, they're HEAVY duty. like crawlin said it may not be practicle to haul due to its dry weight alone. but that said they were designed for small landscape companies to haul skitsteers and use the dump also. if your cj fits in the trailer i guarantee a skidsteer weighs more than your cj. my cat 216 skidsteer is 6500

Last year I wheeled with a guy at tellico who towed an XJ in in his dump trailer. It fit with a few inches to spare. He hauled it down from way upstate NY with a newer Dodge 3500 cummins dually at around 75 mph the whole trip. He said it pulled nicely and he liked towing his Jeep in there
