I know AGR but I'm not ready to sell my kidney on ebay just yet. Since mine is clunking pretty good thought I would see if anyone has found or modded a more stout steering gear out of something else first. Anyone?

You can get a steering gear for an older Jeep J20 pickup. they are the exact same thing as an AGR box. The only problem may be that the input splines may be different .
Or if you can't find one then i can rebuild the one you have and tap it for hydro assist which will give you alot more power.
hope i helped

Hydraulic assist sounds nice and I've heard that it makes a world of difference even handling on the street with tightening things up too. I've got a spare box right now, might just go that route in the future but first think I'll see if I can scrounge that J20 box....easier said then done eh?

Hey J20's, Wagoneers, Cherokees...all pre80's should have the same box right?

NO the J20's have a different larger bore gear box (like AGR uses) than all the rest. The J10's, waggy's, and cherokees's all have a small diameter box box
