Well this is taking a dam sight longer than expected!!!! Too many parts, not enough time. It seems that you either need an exact list of parts or you need to order things bit by bit. It started at the hi-steer arms and went down hill from there.

Why is the tubing welded to the diff cover? looks to me like it could be pushed into the ring gear.

You should mount it more like this...

I had no room to mount it anywhere else. There is no visbible tube to weld to and I wasn't going down the road of welding to the cast center section. My 'C' bushing for the radius arms is between the outer 'c' and Cast center section. So my only alternative was to mount to the cover.

Pre heat the cast, The center is cast steel not cast iron.

I understand that it is Cast Steel and NOT Cast Iron, but I am not going to chance it. There are two opinions on this and I am not going to take the chance of failure due to lack of penetration or the cast becoming brittle. I have welded to the cast rear center section in the past with poor results.I only have a 110v Mig so it isn't worth the worry. This was all covered in a General 4X4 thread when I was asking for solutions. This is what I came up with to solve the problem.
