  I got a lock on a Dana 60 rear and Dana44 front from an international 150 truck. They are sprungover already. Whats the chances of me being lucky enough for them to slide right in my 72 Scout II? I also got the 304 that was in it to replace my tired 345. Anyone done the axle conversion?

hmmm replacing a 345 with a 304  ............

Well there is no conversion in the past post that use these setups.
Yeah i am looking to swap out the 345 for the smaller 304. Logics would say that a vehicle doesnt move without an engine in it.

Therefore the 304 will make the scout move. Look i am so smart, not bad for a newbie.

I simply asked has anyone done it before.

Well most of us don't swap in a closed knuckle, drum brake front diff with whimpy 19 spline axles!

And how would your 60 swap be any different than Cliffy's 14 bolt swap?

Hey OLD retard you may have been born around the same time as International was founded but things have changed since then . The 44 has disk!! Imagine that another stupid reply from you. For future reference before you try to be the big bad moderator try finding those reading glasses so you can know what you looking at, better yet check this out:flipoff2:

OK loosescrew you never told us what year the truck was so fuck off. There was only 2 years that had disk brakes and the parts for the IH brakes are 3x more than chebby brake parts, if you can find them at all. I'm not the moderator here in the IH forum, just a regular ASS like everybody else. :vader:

Not to be an ass, but the fact that the axles came out of a 150 implys that the front is an open knuckle disk, If it came off a 1100 or 1110 then it would be closed knuckle disk brake. Since we are discussing 150 axles, I can get a 150 T-All and the owner claims the rear is a SF d60, 30 spline, since the rig is a few hundred miles away, I havent gone to look at it, so it may just be a d44 too. Ok, i'll let you get back to the newbie bashing now, just thought i'd throw in a bit of tech.:D

Well maybe if you had included all the info related to your swap you would have had a better chance at a tech answer:confused:

And Hey Old Scout!!!!!!!!! What is the best wax to use on my 30 yo paint to make it look new again:flipoff2:

Pretty obvious you did not search even this forum. I know someone on this board used dam near the same axles.

Here I found a couple of posts for you just click the button

What's up with the rest of the 150?

They only made the 150 ONE YEAR (aside from the L, R, whatever ancient stuff). 1975.

The last year of production.

There are some 74/75 specific goodies on that truck..

Anyhow, since it's a 150, it's a 1/2T.

That means the Dana 60 rear is a semi-float 60-2, 5 on 5.5 with wimpy 1.31" Dana 44 sized axle shafts.

The front will more or less bolt in with some custom U-bolts and a little tinkering.

Rear will need the spring perches moved and custom U-bolt plates, OR fab up new perches and weld 'em on.

The front has flat-top knuckles.. drill, tap, install 9/16 studs and a high-steer arm, then get a custom length draglink to hook the Scout's steering box up to the knuckle's new high-steer arm.

Use a ~1" longer front and rear driveshaft.. go play.

It's really that simple.

If you get the manifolds off the 150's 304, save 'em - the rear dumps were only used those 2 years - someone with a 74/75 might need 'em, especially if they're not already cracked.

Why not buy the whole pickup and use it? :D

COOL!! Our 64 never even made it into the water last year:( Gonna paint the bottom here in a few week's, add a new boot stripe and bolt all the chrome back on, atleast the varnish is done and seasoned:D Can't wait to take it for a cruise in full dress:D

1950 L-150

That is kind of what I want for a resto project. Be a cool street machine, all cleaned up and pretty.... But I am thinking of the L110 instead of the L150.

How hard are those rigs to find parts for? I know of the old IH forum, I talk to those guys all the time.

Idiot me passed on a running L110 with a broken rear axle a couple years back. I was buying my house at the time, yada yada.

But, I think it would very cool to run around town in one of those.

When my younguns get a little older, I want to make it *our* project. We restore it, and they get to drive it.

I sense alot of hostility in the room :D :D You need to take whatever you have running get in it roll down the windows and drive. It is spring a time to be outside find a mud hole and see if you can get through it. I wish they would get the BB up so I can find something of interest around here instead of idiots posting dumbass questions :flipoff2: :flipoff2: Have a nice day and quit spreading BS:smokin:

WTF IH made 4x4 and 6x6 trucks during WWII. If your history is on par with your english skills WWII was from 1941 to 1946 :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

I think the S serise trucks were the first civilian IH to get 4x4 (mid fifties) but I am not sure on this one, I more than likeley am wrong. On those WWII IH military rigs, I can get a IH 6x6, was thinkin, throw in a RD501, some 5 ton rockwells, and make a tow rig outa it, whattya think?? (yea I know this will never happen but still..........) While we are on the topic of IH military shiat... Does anyone know if the lighter IH military rigs run the RD power like the 6x6's or if they have the BD's???
