Ok guys, just bought me a new towrig/DD. 06'ram quadcab, HO Cummins, auto tranny, 4x4. Any pro/cons from you guys running these trucks, problems I could expect in the future? I just put a gooseneck ball in moved my truck and my buddys truck to my house to work on them. I think I am gonna need some overloads or something. With the 40' trailer and two fullsize chevys with rockwells and 52" Michilens, the truck was squated pretty bad. Any one know of some good kits to remedy this problem? Also, I plan to install some sort of power adding device(edge, bullydog, banks, superchips). What are some good ones in the lower price range.

Iv'e got an 05, srw...I'm assuming yours is a srw as well. I love mine, not real quick (compared to all my buddies and their duramaxes) but it pulls great. I would expect it to sag pretty well under the load you just described...The heaviest Iv'e had on mine was a 24 foot goosneck with a couple of jeeps...It did fine and didn't really squat as much as I thought it would. Check out www.dieseltruckresource.com, pretty much all cummins stuff, but plenty of it.

I assume you bought the 2500??? The reason I say that is becuase they do NOT have any overload springs. Thats why I bought the 3500.
I have had my 3500 4x4 Mega Cab since Febuary and I love it. I have been towing like crazy. This last weekend I towed from Dallas to Poteau OK. I was towing a 24 foot gooseneck trailer with 2 rigs on it. I got 12MPG towing at an average of 80 ot 85 mph the entire way. It never downshifted pulling hills and had tons of power. I have been very very satisfied. So far I have 6500 miles on it and I think atleast 2500 of those miles have been towing. I could not imagine towing with anything else for now!!!
I have not done any mods to mine yet but I will be soon. I cant ever leave weel enough alone!!!
Check out www.cumminsforum.com I am a Mod. there and the group is a great bunch of guys... You will get a lot of positive feedback from there!!!

You are going to love the low-end grunt of the Cummins for towing! If you want a little more performance, head on over to DTR (mentioned above) and read up on boxes, exhaust, and intakes. Pretty easy to get an extra 100+hp out these trucks without spending a whole lot. As for the squatting, make sure your tires are rated for the tongue weight, install a set of overload springs (or better, airbags!) and haul it! The Cummins won't even flinch.

Funny you should say that, just today me and my buddy lined our trucks up on a country road(03' duramax dually). No contest, I smoked him. When I let up at 100MPH, he was at least a couple hundred yards back.
I think I am leaning toward the airbag overloads. This will be my heaviest loads usually, but It squats pretty good right now.

I have just under 8 thousand on my 06 Q-cab. Our trucks are the same, except I have the 6 speed. And I put a little lift on mine, but anyway....
I have had no problems, still has the new car smell. Taking it to the dealership on Monday for the second oil change. I lost a bit of power with the 35's but not really bad. Im going to get an exhaust and maybe better intercooler before I mess with the computer. If I can get enough power with out a chip I wont get one.
I havent towed anything yet because I am STILL searching for a project rig. But for your truck I vote airbags.

Put airbags on it it will help the sagging a$$ end. It was the last mod I did when it should have been the first..

You'll love your truck. I'm on my second '06 in 6 months. Work trucks both. 23k miles on the first one, second one just turned 5k miles. Lots of towing and heavy loads, but not as heavy as yours. Both 1 tons, so they've got the overloads. For your sagging problem, get some air bags.

i have an 06 2500 quad cab srw with a 6 inch lift, 325 60r 20 tires on 20x10 rims. With the superchips programmer, AFE magnum force 2 intake and 5 inch turbo back exhaust and i can smoke my tires with ease and i get 16-17 mpg in the city and 19-21 on the highway. i love mine, the next step is 4.56 gears, ats trans and pdr twin turbos.

Throw a set of overload bags on the back. That should stop the sagging problem. I set mine up a little diffrently so I can raise and lower the back 8 inchs. Loading/unloading a trailer is so easy now. I just lift the bag us with the tailer attached, put down the trailer wheel thingy, lower the truck down, drive away. To attach the trailer i just back under, lift up the airbags, put up the wheel thingy, then drive away. No more cranking that screw jack to bring the trailer off the ball. It cut my trailer loading/unloading time in a 3rd. But thats my pos car trailer. Thats a sweet truck you bought! Good luck

I have an O5, and love it.
Get some firestone air bags, from summit for about 200$.
With my 3 horse goose, I sag down about 1-2 inches, but it just makes the truck leval, it does need air bags though.
I just put a Quadzilla race box on mine, and it feels stupid fast when I step on it.

Good for you! Your are gonna love the truck. I have a '01 Cummins and its a dream. One thing you might really have some problems with on that truck is gonna be the auto tranny. DC's trannies arent known for their strength. I blew mine up a month or so after i chipped my truck. You should have the 48RE which is better than the 47RE that came on my gen trucks, but should still be watched. If you do start havin problems and you dont wanna just throw a stock tranny back under it, check out www.dieseltrans.com. I had one of their licensed dealers build me one of their trannys and it shifts like a dream.
just my .02 cents
Enjoy that truck!
