I have a line on a fuel injected 302 and am thinking about putting it in my 74 fj40. I have always been leaned more towards ford than chevy, and would really like to have drop it in. I think that advance adapters makes a kit, but if there is anyone who has done it I would appreciate the advice. What tranny are you running? Thanks

i just finished puting a 351W in my 71 FJ-40. it is basicly the same block as the 289 and 302 so it will be very similar. I am using a NP435 with a 3 speed T-case. you can also run a Ford T-18 but AA doesnt make an adaptor for the 3 speed case so if you go with a t-18 you will have to run a 4 speed case . Jeff has run this setup for years and said he was very happy with it. i will try and get some pictures posted as soon as i can.

Hey, thanks, that is very helpful. I am not sure which t-case I have because 74 was sort of a transition year for the cruiser. I do have the 4 speed tranny, but I think that they used the 3 speed t-case for awhile. If you know anything about that that would also be good. Mine was left the factory in July of 74. Thanks again, sounds like your setup is pretty sweet.

I have a 302 with T18. I am going to run the AA tcase adapter into a AA crawler box into the 3spd transfer case. AA confirms that they will have a crawler box that will mate from 4 spd tranny to 3 spd case.

If you do have a 3spd tcase I think you could mate it to the 4spd AA kit if you set it up like it was going to mate to a 4spd tranny. I'm not sure what the date was but there are some tcases that came that way.

Found this thread in the Search, and wanted to throw out another option and get opnions.

A buddy of mine is doing a 302 swap into his '69 FJ40. He's undecided on which option of the following:

302, NP435, AA adapter, stock T-case
or
302, Factory 5 speed manual from Man-a-Fre (sorry not familiar with model number), and either the Tcase that he can get with it, or his stock Tcase.

Any opinions? Anythoguhts on experiences dealing with Man-a-Fre?

Thanks
Brent
