Well I have been working on my project for over a year now, and decided to post the progress on here. My buildup is also on Zuwharrie.com. I am in the process of installing a complete drivetrain from an 85' Toyota pickup into a Samurai frame and body with the RRO coil kit.

Here are the initial pics before work really started

Motor mounts (since the yota frame ia about the same width as the sammy frame i just cut the frame around the stock mounts, dropped them on the sammy frame and welded them in place)

I hope that your front control arms are not out to far. You might check and make sure that the tires are not going to hit them.

Looks like you build for fun because that is a lot of work.

Good Job

Front control arms are in the location specified by the instructions... passenger side is as far inward as it could have been due to the diff...

If you mean the shocks I think I will be fine, I cycled the suspension with the currents rim/tire setup and it cleared, so with 2-2.5 BS instead of the stock 3-4 I think I will be fine

came out a little taller than originally planned....

definately gonna get dropped and stretched in the future

Also, I dont wanna take too much of the body off and may go bigger later...

what kind of welding machine are you using?the welds look a little scary.

arc welder...

this is only my second project welding, still trying to find out what settings to use...

My last few welds got much better

My welds hold... my last sammy got rolled on the highway hitting a guard rail at 60, and none of the welds broke

I see you took the body off, how heavy is it? Is it managable with two people?

Hmm... when I moved the body around I had 2-3 other helpers... so 3-4 total

Granted, we had to lift the body somewhat high to reach the frame

Its not so much the actual weight of the body as the size that makes it difficult for only 2 people to maneuver
