I've got a 78 3/4 ton Suburban with a 14-bolt full float rear end.

I've read in the interchange manuals that 74-87 Chevy truck rears will interchange. I've been told that the early 90s 14-bolt full float rear ends will fit with minimal modifications.

What do I have to do to put a 92 14-bolt FF in my 78? It it just a matter of moving the spring perches, or do I have to move the shock mounts to?

why would you want a 92 ff, it the same as the one you have????

always check the perch widths, 3/4t and 1t are different.

if all you want is the gears just swap those, it super easy with 14ff

The Suburban is just a tow vehicle. I'm trying to go to a numerically lower gear ratio for a little better gas mileage. I can't have it torn down in my driveway for a couple of weeks while I rebuild my current rear with new gears. I don't have the time to figure out how to rebuild it myself.

I found a 92 FF rear with 3.42 gears and I want to know what I need to change to make it fit.

CHECK THE PERCH WIDTHS and if they match bolt it in, they should.

it will take you 5 hours at the most to swap a 14ff gear set. they are not like others with pain in the ass pinion nuts and tight ass side shims. simply undo the 6 bolts holding the pinion stock in place, remove diff by unscrewing side adjusters, swap all of said parts into yours, tighten and paint till your happy.

Holy crap! Took me 45 minutes last saturday to do my dually from 3.73 to 4.56

Of course over the years I have set up probably close to a thousand gears:)
