I currently have a solid 1.5" tie rod, tapped for ES2234R and ES2233L ends mounted underneath ford high steer arms on a waggy d44, and a 1.5"x.3125" drag link tapped for ES2847R and ES2848L ends, mounted to a stock ZJ pitman arm on the ES2233L end.
First, I'd like to flip the tie rod to the top of the high steer arms, and replace the long ES2233L end with a ES1020L end. I'd use 1.5"x.25" DOM, with threaded inserts. I assume the taper in the arms will be backwards after flipping the tie rod end. Do I need to drill the hole out and sleeve it? How is this done?
On the drag link, I was planning on drilling out and tapering the second hole on the passenger high steer arm for a ES2026R, drilling out and tapering the stock ZJ pitman arm for a ES2027L end, and using 1.5"x.25" DOM with threaded inserts.
Thoughts? I don't really care about having to drop one end of a link to adjust if it means carrying less spares (using the ES2234R at all four ends), but I'm not sure if the taper length, or the misalignment in the drag link ends will make a difference.
My steering geometry is off, all ends are worn, and I have quite a bit of bumpsteer. It's a trail rig, but I don't trailer it, and everyone has told me that heims will wear faster and not be as streetable.
