I've had a few questions regarding the tubs made last year fro a friends sammi. Thought I'd toss up a few more pics.

how it fits together

The elliptical piece is cut 1/2" larger, then a 1/2" lip is hand formed. The top piece is flat to whatever width you desire. Then a step flange is put in. That piece is then curved to fit the elliptical piece. The step flange is not necessary but it's a nice detail. Hope this helps.

Nice clean work, I like.:smokin:
Really nice work. It takes talent to cut, bend and piece together something like this. I know a few guys who possess this talent and they're all sheetmetal contractors by trade.
What are you applying to it to prevent future rust? The way these tin boxes rust away up here it almost seems a shame to spend so much time on something like this only to see rust forming again a couple years down the road.

We lined the inside, then just painted. Here's truck after paint.

What's up with the shackle angle though?

First of all, I had nothing to do with the suspension. Second, Great, thank you for the compliments, but keep the insults to yourself.:shaking:

I think he was just asking a simple question about why there is - shakle angle, thats all. BTW it looks good :)

All righ, all right, I read it as a snotty remark, sorry. That's the way The suspension has been since he put it together. I've never looked into it.

I don't have any pics of the rocker. It's 4" x 1/4" square tube with the ends capped at 45*. The cage doesn't tie into the dash per se. It goes thru the top of the dash. The plastic das cover srews into the outside of the cage.

I also have a shackle reverse, and my angle is pretty near vertical. The ride is rougher that I expected it to be, and I've got nasty inversion on the front springs. One of these days I'll swap out to longer springs and work on the shackle angle.
I've never ridden in a sammy with, or seen a shackle angle like the one posted unless it was due to a bent leaf or something.
I was merely curious, no insult intended.

that is awesome work!! this is exactly what i want to do to my rusted-up zuki. i really wish i had the ability to do something like that. or, at a minimum, the time to dedicate to acquiring those kinds of skills.
i know it's a long shot but......any interest in replacating a set of the rears?
nevertheless, keep up great work!!

I want to know what tools were required to do the work... sheet metal brake? Shrinker? Flanging tool?

I used a jig saw to cut the curve, a shear to sut the straights. I bead roller to install the step flange & a homemade tool to bend the flabge on the curve,. Once the flange was set, I used a hammer & dolly to fine tune the flange.
