sbf; small block ford? If yes, my concern would be aftermarket support for such a swap. Example: engine mounts. I know of at least two companies that sell engine mounts to put sbc's (he he) into Jeeps--but none who make them for sbf's. You may be on your own for that, plus wire harnesses, VSS, etc.

Wow, a WHOLE 45 min?... you didn't wear yourself out did you?:shaking:

Motor mounts... make em.... The XJ's have bolt in motor mounts, ripe for an engine swap. Get some plate, and get creative.

Trans Adapters/ trans to use.... Buy em... Get a C4 and a t-case adapter to mate it with the Cherokee's 231 case.

Exhaust... just run the tubing.... How hard is that? Factory manifolds, shorty headers, pipes, converters, mufflers.... Stop surfing the internet and go to a muffler shop.

Your factory oil pressure & engine temp gauges/ senders can be reused, alt. and fuel will be unaffected. Speedo will still work because you kept the 231 which houses the VSS. Tach on the other hand, won't work. I belive it gets it's signal from the PCM, not straight off the motor. (Anyone know otherwise?) If you run EFI the fuel pump will work if you don't modify the engine, otherwise you'll need an aux pump or a new hi flow in tank pump.

A SBF would be a good swap into a Cherokee. Smaller dimensionally than a SBC, and physically lighter by about 100lbs. reducing the need for reinforcement of the unibody. If done right, it would be a nice swap...

But judgning from this guys questions... I don't think it's gonna get done right...

this guys post is why i don't post here much .... I HAVE CHECKED ALL THE COMPANYS THAT I COULD FIND SELLING ADAPTERS . AND LOOKED ON HERE (PIRATE) FOR ABOUT 45MINS ....

no one list anything for a ford in a xj ...!

i thought i might get lucky and find someone that has done this swap before . maybe they could tell me what THEY used for mounts , trans/t-case , exhaust .

matter of fact i've had a cj-5 with a 5.0 injected in it already . THAT I PUT IT ALL IN . (MOUNTS / HEADERS / 4-SPEED ) so i might just know a little something .

what i'm thinking about going with is .

302ho
c/4 trans
t-case ....???
and propane .
