This is for a friend, I just stumbled across an 80's 2500 being parted out with what looks like a 4" lift kit on it. He is going to get the kit (shocks, steering components, front D-shaft for a spare). I have heard that you are safe to leave your D-shafts alone with a 4" lift. Is this true? Even with a slip yoke in the rear? Thanks.

when i lifted my 78 f150 i had to shorten the d-shaft by 2", dunno if it was the lift or the 1 ton rear i put in it but with 4" you should be fine, but if the parts truck has a d-shaft why not just grab that incase(i know nothing bout chevy so i really dont know)

You shouldn't have to do anything to the driveshafts with a 4" lift. A friend of mine has a 78 Chevy short box with a 4" lift and he didn't need to do anything with the driveshafts.
