AX 15 to 231 leak

Freind of mine has a bad driverain leak. Fluid seems to be seeping from between tranny and tcase mounting area.

We will be topping them up to confirm which unit has the leak, but I was wondering if there is one that is more common then the other.

AX15 rear output, or 231 front input?

Hoping its the 231, since it will give him an excuse to get SYE.

I've pulled apart a nv3550 before, and they are a royal PITA to get back together. Is a ax15 just as bad?

why would you need to pull the ax15 apart. the rear seal is replaceable once the tcase is out of the way. just buy both seals and replace both at one time while your in there.

Ahh, thanks. I didnt know you could get at the seal from outside. Never worked on an one of these to do anything other then clutches and tcase changes.
