I am almost complete in my task collecting the parts for my swap. The 4banger is out. I have the 2002 4.3 and 4l60e in the garage, motor mounts from novak and a hobart180 welder.

The parts I am still going to need are
radiator>>Is alum worth the money, i am leaning to extreme radiator.com

Elec fan>>no big deal

Auto shifter>>pistol grip from hurst or lokar and why?

Tcase>>going to use my 21 or get a 23 spline from bone yard is it worth 23.

computer reprogram>>thinking centech.

Tcase adaptor from novak

fuel delivery>>going to try stock first then maybe just a new pump then if that won't work I will try to modify my tank to accept a chevy fuel sender.

What do you guys think? Is there somthing else that will make this easier?

With the computer reprogram, i am thinking that the vats and charcoal canister are history, with my tire and gear added. anything else I should consider before I send it out????

Thanks
David

One for a 700R4 should work the 4L60E is just a later revision of the 700R4

Just did this swap a few months ago. I used a 3 row steel radiator from Adavanced Adapters. Its keeping it cool so far. Kept the belt driven fan.

I went with a floor shifter from B&M. Works great with the AL460-E even though it wasn't listed as one of the tranny's it would work with. It did list the 700, so I went with it.

My 231 had a lot of miles on it, so I swapped in an Atlas II. If you stick with the 231 you'll want to exchange the input to the 23 spline. It is an easy and inexpensive swap.

The 4.3 I got was from an '01 S-10. Since I didn't want to mess with that new of a computer, I swapped in a PCM from a 96. It works fine and it passed CA smog test, if that's a conern for you. I also went with a new wiring harnes from Howell. The stock Chevy harness may work if you want to take the time to figure out where to splice in a bunch of stuff. The problem I had was that the engine harness is integrated with the body harness, making it hard to figure everything out. It was just eaisier to go with a custom harness. The only issue I had with it was an evap code that we remedied by putting an extra evap sensor back by the pump.

You could probably get by with the YJ fuel pump, providing it is still in good condition. I decided to swap in the pump from the S-10 though, since it was included with the stuff I bought.

I used the MORE "bomb proof" engine mounts. Since a v-6 is not balanced as well as a V-8 I do get a bit of vibration at idle speeds from them.
