I am having problems with my pinion bearing going out and i believe its caused by axle wrap.... i have already had it go out once in the last year and now it seems its on its way out again.... can i pull the gears and locker and replace the bearings without having the gears reset? Will all of the shims and such stay in place? Last time i had this happen it was at spring break and wa sa 500 dollar ordeal...... and yes im building a trac-bar now I have just been at school and not had a chance to build it yet

You can definately get away from set up if its just the outer pinion.

If its the inner, you need to caliper both bearings, make up the difference with shims, and run a pattern to double check it.

If it is the exact same bearing, and within a few thou, you might get away with it. Then again, you might not. Its kind of a 50/50 chance.
