View Full Version : building a track bar
I'm thinking of building a front Adjustable track bar for my TJ.
I was going to get the Front drop bracket from RE, I have a 2" Jonny Joint and then I was going to get some DOM tubing..
My question Is.. can I get away with making a straight Track bar on a TJ with 3" of lift with stock steering setup?

You might have a problem running a straight track bar on your TJ as it may hit your lower mount on extension, and it'd be a tight fit getting a straight bar past the pumpkin with a dropped upper track bar mount installed, especially during compression.
If your gonna give it a go though, make sure that the mounting hole of the dropped mount will allow your new track bar to set at the same angle as the draglink on your steering, or as close as possible, to minimize bumpsteer.
Another option, should the straight bar not work, would be to get the dropped mount, cut off the upper TRE, and weld a threaded sleeve on the upper end of the factory track bar. That would allow you to attach the johnny joint for more travel, have an adjustable bar, and clear the differential.
upon a closer look I thik your right a staight bar will probably get in the way, I think the easiest solution is to build a better Axle side mount and move the bar on top of the axle tube, that way I can use the the straight bar..
thanks
