: Will a D44 30 spline axle fit in a FJ40/60 third member?

I realize that this has probably been discussed before, but I did multiple searches on this and came up with basically nothing.
I was thinking that possibly you could weld on D44 outers onto a FJ60 housing and use stock length D44 shafts from some donor axle. Granted you would have find an axle that was really close in width to an FJ60 axle, but that shouldn't be too tough. What do you guys think?

Putting flame suit on.

Nope. The axle diameters are different.

Thanks Nolen, Somehow, I thought you might chime in. Oh well, there goes my cheap custom axle idea. Not that I was the first to think of it. I know that many other cruiser heads have probably thought of this before.

Use the whole D44! In the front you will not break the ring and pinion and with the Lifetime warranty Warn axles and CTM ujoints it will be a great swap!

Giddy up!

Thanks Nolen,
Yeah, I am not to worried about breaking the D44 that I am going to put in. I was just thinking of an easier way to get the same gear ratios witout spending a bunch. I know, it kind of seems like backward thinking, but I am on a limited budget. Oh well, I will just have to bite the bullet and pickup that D44 and regear it. Thanks again, Thomas
