Been thinking real hard about going SOA with my YJ with XD 4.5-inch lift so I can get rid of those puny 35s, get some 39.5s (or bigger) and f#@k some sh%t up...
Anyone done this?
How bad is the axle wrap?
Will my rig blow over in a strong wind?
Will it bend my springs?
As it sits, with the SUA RE 4.5, Conn Ferr +1.25 shackles (which actually only add about another .5 because the shackles that come with the 4.5 are longer-than-stock too), and a 1-inch body lift, it rides perfect, flexes good (not like SOA though), and the 35s don't rub at all (no sawzall required--yet...)
Thank you for your support,

Wouldn't you rather do some cutting so that you're not flying so high?? I'd much rather go into the fenders than sit up like that, but i'm just a novice.

Ox-locked Waggy 44s F&R and 231 SYE. The rest is stock as of today, but an SB350, and some other tranny (not fully decided yet) is going in this winter.
I know I'm just a newbie around here but I've been jeeping for over a decade and wrenching for a lot longer so try to cut me a little slack...

Good point. But it's a mudder (not a lotta rocks in north central MN) so having a low center of gravity is less important to me than straight clearance. Truth be told, I'll probably do both and see if I can fit some 40s.

Man, You guys are a whole lotta friggen help.
I ask a simple lousy question and all any one on this board does is bitch and whine about how the rest of my junk isn't 'built' enough.
LOOK, If I put 40-inch tires on it I'll UPGRADE THE GODDAMN AXLES WHILE I'M FAWKIN AT IT!! O.K.!?!? IS THAT COOL WITH EVERYONE?
Jesus H. Motherfogging Christ. All I'm freakin asking for is if someone has done this (hell even someone who's SEEN it done or HEARD of it done would make me happy!) There's GOT to be somebody out there.
You guys are all about as helpful as a goddamn hole in the head.

God damn who got your panties all up in a wad??? Calm down you asked what people thought and they told you now quit your bitching!
Ok back to the topic Yes with 11" of lift you should easily fit 39.5's, hell if you cut the wheelwheels to match the diameter of a 39.5 you would only need 2 more inches of lift or maybe even no lift. Sense its a mud truck who cares about flex??? cut the fenders extend the bumpstops down an inch or two and you would be good. Or do a spring over, dropped bumpstops, and cut fenders and you could easily run 44's
If you have been wrenching for so long the whole idea of tire clearance shouldnt be so hard to grasp... Bigger tire= bigger bumpstop to keep it out of the fender... more lift will just give more clearance when sitting still expecially a spring over that allows alot more compression travel

I hadn't had my coffee yet.
Anyhoo, I was looking for someone who'd actually done it or seen it done or something. It just seems like most people on this board would rather dog on a guy about shit than answer his question. Thanks for at least giving it a try.
Sorry if I offended your delicate sensibilities dude.

Here is a pic of a YJ with 3.5" lift springs in a SOA configuration. If I remember right he runs 39.5" boggers. He has an LS 1 motor and a Dana 60 in the rear. The front is still a Dana 30 due to the fact that he is in search of a JY front Dana 60. He has snapped a leaf spring by getting into a precarious position and is currently working on a traction bar. The leafs did have an added full length in it too.
