you should be able to!

I had tha tin my 4:1 case and i have it in my Sumo case too!

Pull the little steel ball out from between the shift rods and you can have 2WD Low in ANY Samurai case.

#1-yes.

#2-personally i think it's a non issue (re the one or the other being "stronger")
there are too many variables. i've heard of both breaking.
i've seen ones of both that were decades old, abused like crazy, and looked as good as when they left the factory.
some have had v8's in front of them and not broken.
stock engines with 4.16 gears and a tough line have busted them.
see my point?
the 410 cases came stock with slightly lower gearing, but i don't think Suzuki went to any trouble re-designing the 413's because of the change to a few % of gearing.
at least i have not heard personally of any more desirable one over the other.
you never really know what kinds of stresses a previous owner put one through, and that's *usually* a determining factor.
