I need viewpoints. I have an 81 f150 w/ a 351modified engine. I'm looking into putting a reman. carb on it to boost mileage. The original one on it now has a manual choke. It used to have an automatic choke but it stuck too many times when it's freezing cold. Which to buy - $188 stock reman carb w/ manual choke or should I upgrade to the elect choke on the reman carb $150. All carbs are 2 barrel.

I have no history w/ the electric choke. Is it worth anything at all. The stock automatic choke was worthless.

Please help.
Thanks
Jim

I'm currently getting 7mpg due to flooding and the 33's didn't help any either. haha.

I personally would use another manual choke since you already have the cable run. You save a few bucks in the purchase price and they work fine. Electrics when tuned properly also work fine. I would bag the reman deal and buy a new Holley 500 2bbl w/manual choke and then rejet and tune it for your engine and altitude, they work killer on 351m's. Look at Summit or similar sellers for a good price. Enjoy!! WildBill
