I’m looking at getting heavy backspaced rims made for my full width 79 f-150 axles to help on the axle width when installed on my Jeep. I do have a question about how far I can go. Here is a link of what I am planning on getting. They make the rock crawler style rim that I can get with up to 5.5” of back spacing; I plan to stick with the 15 inch rim also. http://www.rocky-road.com/wheels.htmlHas anyone put these on a Dana 44 front end out of a 79 f-150. I’m not sure if it will bind with the brakes or hit the steering etc. Also I plan to do a disk brake conversion on the 9” rear and was wondering if I would run into issues with the 5.5” back spacing. Any help would be appreciated.

Not enough room. Here is a 15x8 with 4" BS. Getting pretty close:D

great picture. i think 4 inch backspacing would be fine. i see you are running 35x12.5r15 same size as me. i thought maybe the tire would bulge out enough that it may rub do you have that issue?

Your tires may hit the radius arms at full lock if you are using stock ones. I am not sure, it is just something you may want to look into.

I had a friend do a similar swap on his jeep. He converted to a Ford 8 lug axle and used stock hummer wheels which have about 7" backspacing. It turned out very well.

ford 8 lug pattern is the same as the h1 pattern? 8x6.5?

how about tire selection with a 16.5" wheel?

Yes, the pattern is the same. As for selection at your local tire store - it stinks, but if you are getting swampers there's quite a few available for that size.
