: will 10-spline np205 front yoke fit 10-spline dana 20?

Can I use a chevy front 10spline driveshaft with my 10-spline dana 20? seems to be the right length and I can get them cheap. would i need to use a bronco output yoke instead, and would that work?

if it is the same size it will work, but why would you go 10 spline?

the dana 20 that's in the scout is already 10-spline, with 4.09 gears i doubt I'll break it.

but why cant you just use the shafts? is there a reason to swap yokes?

the bronco output yoke should work fine. its 10 spline. pretty sure the 205 is going to be a much larger shaft, and not work.

OK, I'll bite. I'm feeling stupid. What does the spline count of the driveshaft (slip joint?) have to do with the spline count of the transfer case output yoke? Why does this matter at all? I guess I don't see the question here...

I am wanting to go with a cv shaft for my soa buildup. I already have the axles out of a 76 blazer as well as the front driveshaft. What I was wondering is if the 10 spline chevy yoke is the same diameter as the 10 spline dana 20 output shaft so that it will bolt on. I assumed that the U-joints were not the same for the 2 different yokes so I couldn't just bolt it on.

If this is the case, does the bronco shaft use the same style u-joint?

Another question would be; will the oil seal work with both yokes.

now we have conflicting stories... you said you had a blazer, and then at the end you said woudl the bronco shaft fit... which is it a blazer or a bronco... go to a local shop and go into a spicer book and get some specs on the shafts and see if their measurements are the same... done

Ok, since nobody knew except for justscoutin, I went ahead and checked it out. The blazers np205 yoke doesn't fit. it is too big, despite being 10-spline. I want to try and use the blazer drivshaft as it is the correct length stock. I now need a 10 spline dana 20 output yoke for my 1350 cv shaft from the blazer. Hopfully I can find a bronco with the 10 spline yoke in the junkyard, and its the same style yoke.

btw, the stock dana 20 output WILL NOT WORK. It seems to use the same u-joint, but the bolt holes dont line up with the carden.

Maybe you can use a Dana 20 double cardan yoke?

Thats the plan. Just need to find one off of a bronco. Do you know of another source?

yea i believe thats the correct spicer part number, if you don't have a bronco dana 20 to rob. the broncos came with cv shafts factory, and its the same cv as the chevy front driveshaft, so that will work for you. if you have a later dana 20 with more splines, you need a front yoke from a 99 or so tj. will work for a 20 or 300.

From what I am reading on summit, the chevy front is a 1350 series and the bronco is the 1310. And according to Denny's driveshafts page, it aint the same.
http://www.dennysdriveshaft.com/html/faq.html#What%20is%20the%20difference%20between%20 1310,%201330%20and%201350%20Series

of course, summit could be wrong and its a 1310. I am haveing trouble finding much information on the subject.

well, ok. Appears as though summit was listing the rear joints, or just messed up. Further reading on dennysdriveshaft showed that it is infact a 1310 for 73-77 blazers.
