Hey all...moving to the mountains and snow (Colorado) from So Cal. We own a 2004 Expedition 2wd and am wondering if it is even possible to convert it to a 4wd. I know nothing about this thing, axles and all that...
Can anyone shed some light?

Possible, yes, anything is possible with enough money, worth doing? No
You'd be much better off just to trade it in for a 4x4

ALOT of work, you'd be on the higher side to buy just 4x4.

how do you want to go about doing it???
stock components or sas???
what are your driving plans, street or serious rompin?
dont even waste your time if all you want to do is street and stock parts, youre better off with somthing that is 4x4 from the get go.

Kind of what I had figured on guys...I only bring it up because we owe more than it is worth. Lost my A$$ on trade in, and this one was a brand new 04 on the lot in 05...so depreciation got me way before I could put miles on it. SAS sounds like a fun project...but I'll be saving my money for fun projects on my next vehicle...looking at either a 93-97 Land Cruiser with the electric locking diffs...or a 2500 series Ram w/ Cummins....sorry, but don't need two Fords.
