I have a friend wanting a straight axle swap on his 93 full size Bronco. Most of us all have Yotas I have a 71 bronco restoring (looking for a few parts) but know nothing of newer ones. Has anyone here ever done an axle swap and know what is needed.

You need the entire front suspension from a 77 to 79 F-150 or 78 - 79 Bronco. Be sure to get all the brackets and bolts to make the swap easier.

I did the swap on my 93 F-150, and there's plenty of people here and over at FSB that have done it, so search and come back with specific questions.

I did it based on everything I read and learned on this board and over on FSB.

i heard SAS's were not possible with these vehicles.

get the 70's axle, complete with radius arms, and the track bar, and the tie rod. Aside from building a trackbar mount, it's pretty much a bolt in swap.

Why would a SAS not be possible on ANY vehicle?

I don't see much point to it unless you use a D60 frontend though IMO, the Twin-Beam axle is already a D44 you're gonna replace with another D44, why not go stronger too?

Im pretty sure you have front ABS sensors so you will have to find a way to mount those sensors on the solid axle knukles. Probably have to drill through the knuckle to mount the sensor (ive never done it but it looks possible) Also, take peoples advice on getting a dana 60 up front. In the back...... Don't do like me and use the 8.8 (I suck) but instead look for a 10.25 out of a 90's f-250 or 350 because it will have the abs/speedo sensor and it kicks the 8.8's ass in strength.

Or a Dana 60 from an E-series van, it'll come with everything you would need and can be upgraded to fit 35 spline shafts without needing new spindles.

True

False, unless you want to retain the 4wabs, which most people dont
