I'm looking at dumping a 302 into my Scout along with a C4. My parents are still big Ford fans but only Mustang's, Falcon/Sprints etc. They have no 4 wheel drive interest so I never learned about 4x4 Ford stuff either. What transfercases did Ford use with the C4? And can I easily and with little cost re-use my IH Dana 300 or will I need to go to a Jeep 300? Is it even worth it in the long run? I thought the Bronco's had a driver side drop 20 in them, is it the same bolt pattern as the IH Dana 20? Any help would be great.
TIA

The Bronco D20 is the only transfer case Ford ever put behind a C4. Check with Advanced Adapters or some other adapter company for other options.

I forgot some '83-'84 Rangers and Bronco II came with the C5 and BW1350. The C5 is a C4 with a lockup converter and valve body changes, so they are easily swappable.

I knew some Fords had a Dana 20 behind them but they were Driver Drop right? I'd like to know if that would even work for the IH 20 or 300. My question on that is: because they changed the position of the front driveline drop did they also mirror the case bolt pattern? And is it the Texas 5 bolt pattern? A local source told me 73-77 Bronco's would have the tranny I'd like to see so I'll start looking. Thanks for the help!

The Bronco Dana 20 is drivers drop, with a 6 bolt round pattern, 28 spline input. You're not going to bolt anything else to a Bronco C4 without an aftermarket adapter and tailshaft.

Again thanks. I'd like to drop this 302 into my Scout and stay auto like I said but my budget may not allow for it. There is an A/A book at work, I'll start looking tomorrow.
