From the title I'm sure you pretty much have an idea of what I'm wondering. I want to know if switching a 1989 F250's Twin Traction Beam front axle to a solid front axle from maybe a 70's 3/4 ton Ford would be an easy or cheap task. I know nothing about these TTB systems but I do know from all my friends with 4x4's that solid front axles are the way to go so I got to thinking, since the TTB setups seem somewhat similar to a solid front axle, if it would be easy to swap the two, that might be an option to consider. If it's not easy, if it's pointless, or if I'm just stupid, please let me know as I am new to 4x4's all together and this is just something that crossed my mind today.

A D60 front from an 85.5-97 F350 will bolt into a TTB F250 without much effort. As for earlier axles, I believe that requires a good bit more work and isn't so much a bolt in.
The leaf sprung TTB's ride like crap, have little suspension travel, and generally are the shits, but, they do seem to stay together.

That's good to hear that the swap is easy. I just suggeted an axle from an earlier year because I figured I could find one easier/cheaper.
As for the leaf sprung TTB suspensions not being good... that sucks. :(
