Ok, so I've searched through all the posts I could find on the google pirate search, since I can't seem get our red star search to do anything at all:shaking:

Anyhow, I've got an'87 R20 Suburban that I am wanting to convert to 4wd....yea I know, just swap frames right? Well, I already started to do that and found where my donor frame needed all body mounts from the front doors back as well as some rear frame repair.

So, I'm wanting a better ride and a small lift, so I'm looking into the 52in. spring swap.....since I'm only looking to run 35s and it will be mostly a dd I don't really need the front axle moved 2in. forward. My thougts are to put the front hangers in factory locations up front and then since I have to drill the holes for the shackle hanger I figured I could move it rearward from stock to correct the shackle angle.

Those of you who have made the swap, do you think this would be a good idea? Suggestions? Advice?

Thanks,
Justin

Check out ck5.com, just about every variation of the 52" swap has been covered there.

IIRC, I believe you can move the the front hanger directly below the body mount and leave the rear hanger alone to achieve OE axle position w/ 52's.

you cant leave the fronts alone or your axle move 2"s back.

if you do what i did and put the hanger cup directly under the body mount your axle will not move forward or back. then you adjust for the shackle angle, i just made a 7" eye2eye shackle but it did put my pinion a little low.

I searched and found your thread on the boomarang shackles and with your pics of your front setup.... thanks for the info.

I'm figuring on probably building my own front hangers since I don't have stock ones, and to also to hopefully retain the stock front bumper mounting locations.

Anyone have the measurment of the center of the stock shackle location to the bodymount under the firewall?

Thanks,
Justin
