I've been trying to figure this out with no luck so far


My oil pressure gauge has been acting funny. Im trying to determine if its simply an electrical fault or an actual mechanical issue.


The thing is it was all fine a month ago when I parked it to swap axles, now my pressure reads lower than normal when hot and idling 15-18lbs. Also, right at startup, the gauge acts funny. It starts to climb as soon as the engine fires up, makes it to about 15lbs, falls to zero for a split second, then climbs again like normal to around 40. It only does this on startup, and the pressure reads fine otherwise, except for being lower than it used to at a hot idle.

It has fresh oil/ filter


Im wondering if theres a pressure check ball/valve on the pump that may be messed up or something?? anybody know anything about this?

Replace the sending unit, you probably damaged it either when you changed the oil (since you say it has a fresh filter and oil), or you damaged it during the axle swap. They're pretty fragile.
