Very sweet! Nice to see someone who's takin' the extra step!.

He comments that the tire is 42" off of the ground. On a 20 degree ramp (assuming his wheelbase is still 100 inches) that equates to a 1228 RTI score! Not bad!!!, considering a stock disco is 588.

If on a ramp he would have traveled up ~123" vs stock at 58.5" (20" tire off of ground).

Way

P.S. Looks like he could have lifted it a bit more too.

Nice thing about coilovers.. They're super adjustable so I'll bet all he'll have to do is crank up the ride height a little bit and get 35s on there no problem. Ok, so maybe with a little more fender trimming, but still, that's not bad at all.

awesome work!

Old scout I think those are 35x14.5 boggers. Seen it on disco web a while back. Could be wrong though.

a few things.

those are NOT 35s. they are 33x12.5 boggers.

whats so special about that? Adam Way maxes out the three link front end on his truck and he didnt have to go to coilovers to do it. aside from the obvious fact that the guy jumped on the coilover bandwagon and most likely payed somebody like SG to do the work for him, whats so fawkin special about that?

and yes Doug, RTIs do not mean shit.

So many opinions to agree with about that Disco.

Yes, it's nice to see someone 'pushin' it'.

Yes, those are 33x12.50's (just a hunch).

Yes he probably had $G do all the work.

Yes, RTI doesn't mean SHHHEEEEIIIIIT.

Now let's see some pics of him gettin' it AWN!

I hope he knows those piece of SHIEEIT CV's are from a K-car. He'll need the parts when he starts snapping them like toothpics from all the wheeling I'm sure he'll do! Hehe. (hmmm, wonder if he has lockers.....a winch.....a brain?????)

:flipoff2:

Anyway, it is cool to see someone doing whatever the F they want with their truck. I'm sure he gets loads of crap from the purists (no one here knows anything about that though).

Later,

Michael

He may have paid someone to build it but at least his exists...where is this one Adam??!!!

Adam Check
Vehicle Year, Model: 1965 Land Rover 88 Website: http://www.ontherox.com
E-Mail: WhatsUp129@aol.com Notes:
Year: 1965

Manufacture: Land Rover

Model: Series IIA 88" Station
Wagon

Color: Oxford Blue

Engine: Chevy 327 w/ dual plane intake, Q-Jet carb, cam, and headers

Transmission: SM420

Transfer Case: Spicer 18 w/ 3.15 gears

Axles: Dana 44s w/ Detroits and 4.56 gears

Suspension: Custom coil front w/ Range Rover springs, 3 link system, James Duff 15" travel shocks, and custom shock mounts. Spring over rear with spring clamps removed, and custom "Buggy Bar" which the frame mounted end slides toward the back of the truck under droop. A compressed air actuated lock pin is employed to lock the bar in place for on road use. The bar is also spring loaded so that it cannot move freely. The springs are compressed as the bar slides, causing the bar to automatically return to its normal position upon comression. Shocks are James Duff 15". Over all, once tuned properly, this system should net an RTI of around 1500 to 1600 on a 30 deg ramp.

K-Car or Caravan, same thing! The Caravan is derived from the 'highly successful' K-car platform and shares many of the same components (i.e. CV's).

It gets more funny as you realize the 'heritage' our LR CV's truly have.

Unless he is a fibber or he changed something, those are 35's. This is from the previous post:

I have Rovertym 3" springs 1.5" spacers and just built my own 2" body lift. I didn't know rovertym was going to offer them. $185 is cheap. I'm running 35x14.5x15 boggers. Drives great and leans to 39 degrees without falling over. Don't tell my wife she's on the internet she will kill me. But it's the only picture I have of the truck. If your wondering how tall the truck is she's 5'8".

Looks like weve hit a nerve here about RTI scores.

I, for one, think that RTI is a good and simple way to get a feel for how much a rig will flex.

Now a crawler that gets a good RTI score does not mean that it has a well sorted suspension setup but a rig that is well set up for crawling will get a good RTI score.

If a rig gets 1100 going forwards and 800 backwards that tells me something.

If it gets 1000 both ways that will also tell me something.

And if it gets 800 forwards and 1100 backwards this again tells me something.

And if its got 14in travel coil overs and custom links front and back and gets an RTI of 700 on a 20 degree with 42in tyres running 3psi then it tells me that it is a POS and a complete waste of money.

I like RTI scores. :flipoff2:

ok maybe i need to clarify. dont get me wrong, its a killer rig, but i just dont see the need for coilovers on it. and those are NOT 35s.

Strange - if presented with the two in my driveway, I'd take your creation over the Disco in a heartbeat.

I am just geeked to see a Disco this modified. When I first started modifying mine two years ago, anything greater than 235/85's on a Disco was just considered an IMPOSSIBLE proposition that was just absurd. A 2" lift was the most any reasonable person would ever put on, etc. etc.

I am just loving seeing Disco's get to the next level. Gives me more options to think about, as my skills lend much more to copying than creating.

Yeah, it is cool to see people trying different things with Discos too. 9v my last post to you was not a personal attack. This guy tried something different and you seemed to make some rather presumptuous remarks that rang with an all to familiar feel of another popular BBS. Bottom line is OS is cool enough to let us have pretty broad freedom in what we say in this forum, but if you bash some else, don't freak out when things come full circle.
Can't we all just get along?!!:) :) :) :)

I think the guy is right on the money with what he is building. Hes gonna go out in that thing, put it on its roof on its first off camber climb, and totally right the thing off.

Then he will pull the body, slap on a series SWB body and he's got the bitchen trail machine that he obviously always wanted.

You think shes gonna let him build it the other way round. (build trail machine first and spent big dollars that) Spending money on the disco is justifiable and all hes gotta do now is take the last step and ditch the disco body and hes there.

He can do it this way and its not his fault. Each step is a logical progression. It was just unlucky that the thing fell on its roof. And now that the body is written off he may as well slap on a series body cause its the cheapest way to get it back on the road. And shes supporting him all the way. Perfect plan.:smokin:
