Wondering if anyone has experience with the 44 (1300R20) michelins or the 48 (1400R20) michelins in the rocks? Which seems to work better and what would be the down falls to each? Thanks.

I watched this guy at prorocks, he had the 48" Michelins, he seemed to have problems with getting traction. The side walls did not seem to flex and the rubber seemed very hard.

thats a tire i've seen run on the military vehicles up here, it's designed for a 6000-7000 lB personel vehicle so the compound will be really hard, a buddy of mine has them on his TJ and they are really hard, but work great in the mud, but not at all a good tire for rock, surprised to see it on a rig at that level, guess size was an issue, they don't make the SX in a 48 :p

Why can't you use a tread softner (racing type) to aid traction with those stiffer meats?

Just found this while looking for a little picture of hotlap. Some circle track guys around here also use simple green cleaner to soften things up a bit.
