Just bought my new"To me" Dodge 2001 6spd, HO CTD truck last night and gonna do an oil change. What type of oil should I use for So. Cali and how many quarts exactly?

15W-40 is the weight. My Dad, my sister and my Roomate all use Valvoline Cummins Premium Blue. My Dad buys it through the local Cummins NW, so it's isn't as expensive as when you buy it from Autozone or NAPA. However Delo 400 or Rotella T will probably do just fine. Just FYI, you are relly showing you Diesel Newbie status by asking about quarts, diesel oil is measure in gallons, and it should take 3 with a filter change!:flipoff2: I use Delo 400 in my diesel Scout II, read your owners manual, the specs are probably in there.

Actually, it's 2.75 gallons (11 quarts) for the '01 with filter change. I know several people who just go ahead and dump the last quart of the 3rd gallon in anyway.... doesn't seem to hurt anything.

Thanks for the info. I ended up using 11 quarts of Rotella 15-40w.
