There is a c-clip on the inside of the frame mounting plate. The axle needs to come out with the entire plate or you need to get the c-clip off with the axle still in the housing. I usually take the whole assembly out and dissassembly on the floor.

You need to basically loosen up the entire diff housing. You will still have trouble manuevering the axle (with the frame mounting plate attached) through the control arms.

You can then get to the c-clip(s) to remove the frame mounting plate and seal from the axle.

Do a search at 4x4wire.com on the Isuzu page. There have been a couple of good writeups that are linked over there.

as far as a small lift u can crank on your torsion bars up front and shackle the rear with a shackle kit from any parts store....total cost for the lift is between 15-20 dollars.... did it to mine, rougher ride, and it came through the trails at tellico just about as well as a real lifted s10 could
