i currently have a 1985 crew cab dually 4x4 that i would like to change over to single wheel running gear, front and rear. i might be able to score a deal on a beat up 1986 single rear wheel crew cab 4x4 with a D60 & 14 Bolt.. but no way to take any measurments from it right now.

my question is basically, would it be a simple front & rear axle swap?

i know the single wheel wms to wms widths on the D60 & 14 Bolt will be narrower but how about the sping perch locations?

how about steering/braking componet differences?

being they are both 1 tons, everything should be the same.

The only possible issue may be the parking brake cables

It depends on if 1 or both trucks were origanally cab+chassis trucks because they use a narrower sping purch distance, if they are both 1ton fleet side trucks they shoud be a direct swap.. I just did the same swap "drw-srw on my 86 chevy k30 3+3:cool2:

85 and 86 use the same parking brake cables. The change is 84+ afaik. The driveshaft is different between the D70HD and 14bFF - the D70 has a longer pinion, thus a shorter rear shaft. Skinnier tubes (3-3/8"" vs. 4") on the 14bFF also... so be ready for that.

Perch distance is the same on all the 73-91 "same body style" 1-tons & crewcabs... wether its SRW, DRW, or C&C.
