can I bolt the disc brakes from a newer axle on a 91 14 bolt sf axle?

Yes. You will have to grind the ID of the brackets, and use a spacer.

What rotors do you use for the conversion?

Every 8 lug rotor I have tried had too small of an inside opening to fit over the flange...

Is there a certain rotor that does clear the flange, or do you have to pop out the lug studs and put the rotor on the backside of the axle flange?

From what I have seen, you have to press the studs through the rotor into the axle flange, just like a 14 FF Disk conversion.

Yes, yes... I see now.

I picked up some 87 3/4 front chevy rotors and some front studs from same truck. Looks like it will work perfectly.

I was going to use 3/4 ton chevy calipers, but I already have a set of smaller chevy calipers and weld on brackets for something else. I think they are for an S10 rear disc conversion. Much smaller than the 3/4 calipers, but they fit the rotors and should work fine for my Jeep...

Sorry I did not mention that it is a 6 lug from a 2500 2wd, does this change anything and where could I find more info on the disc swap? I tried searching with Google and gets tons of useless stuff.

A 6 lug-14 bolt? Probably a 12 bolt, i used ford rotors on my 14 bolt chevy, all you have to do is machine the head of the chevy studs down to .940 to fit the ford rotors

Theres tons of write ups on disc break conversions for 14 bolts. I belive theres on under tech articles on this board

6 bolt 14 bolts are not Full floaters but still 14 bolts. the stock studs will not work they are to short to get full contact of the lug nuts. Theres a Gorman number floating around here someplace.

RaphaelSame bird as mine, just different amount of studs...

You'll probably just have to find some 1/2 ton Chevy rotors that will fit on the axle without too much modification. Then get some longer studs that are the right length after going throught the axle flange and rotor...

I just hunted the parts store for a bit to figure out what I needed.
