What vehicle had narrow (in compareson to others) 1 ton axles?

Duallies had the narrowest rear axles - some 14 bolts are narrow as like 62".

Chevy front 60's are around 69" wide, my Dodge 60 front is 67" wide.

Ummm...pretty sure they are all the same, and once you get to Full widths, you aren't going to notice that there is a 1 inch difference. If you want 1 tons, either custom build some, or plan on being wide, there is not, and will never be a cheap, bolt in solution. Spend the $$$ or run what you brung. And maybe try to combine all 17 of your axle questions each day into one post.

Edit-DRM is correct, Dually's are the exception, but since I know you searched about all of this first, you already know that.

uhm.. not nessacarily,

I have a freind with van sf 60 that is 67.5 and I have a truck 60 that is 62 wide...

so with hummer wheels you could stay as narrow as 66 wide (at the outside rim) which is pretty narrow..

You could try the axles from a nineteen sixties ford. I know they widened them in the seventies but I'm not sure of the measurements

Actually I thought some 1 ton vans would give you the widest axles??

It took me awhile but I pulled a Dana 70 out of a 1989 ford 1 ton van and it was 68" WMF wide, that would match a 69" front chevy nicely...

What was the donor vehicle? I'll put it in my axle bible.

CJ - are you being a smartass? :D Van axles are usually a couple inches wider and line up pretty even with the fronts!

Not sure, the latest one I have looked at is a 79, so the older ones may well be narrower.. :)

the cab and chassie dually trucks have the narrow axle, look for work trucks with flat beds and utility beds. most are 62/63" wide

So what are the possible axles that could be found under these work trucks, Dana70, Dana80, and a 14 bolt?

Look under some airport tugs. The rear D60's & 70's I've seen
are around 62" wide. They were loaded w/Detroits & 7.17's. The
60's only have 30 spline shafts though, & some of the 70's had
the Budd style lug pattern. If you were on the East Coast, I could
tell you where they're located :flipoff2: Hehe!
