I was driving the other day and heard the most god awful sound under the hood of my FJ60. The pulley on my smog pump seized and in turn stopped the cooling fan and water pump. Does anyone know any way to bypass the air pump(I already took it apart as much as I could. It seems to be the front bearings ) and just have the water pump and cooling fan run off of another pulley, like maybe put a double pulley on the alternator? I am going to desmog the vehicle anyway, so I don't want to buy a new smog pump just to run my cooling stuff.:mad:

Probably the cheapest and easiest thing you could do is just replace the bearing. It is about $12 at your local bearing shop. You can leave out the vanes if you don't want it to pump air.
