How does one water proof a distributor?

How can I make a cheap snrokle for my 89 F-150.

Stay out of the river, and you won't need either one.

I have never had any luck, since they should not be made air-tight because they heat up and need to have a vent. But I have had good luck with a product I cannot remeber the name of. I think it is called wire dry or something. Comes in a blue and white aeresol can at Murray's. When the dizzy gets wet inside, a few shots of this and your good to go again. Not really preventative, but good for after. WD-40 will also work in a pinch, just don't use too much.

For the ultra cheap, a bead of silicone around the lip of the distributor (before you snap the clasps) works just fine. But, like it was said, it should have a vent to expell ozone (I think).

As for a snorkel, you could always try some 4" corrugated drainage pipe and a SS band. Or, mabe you could work some magic with some 4" PVC.

just run a breather for the dist. then seal it all up and run the breather line from the dist. into the snorkel

In answer to going to Clayton, I would love to go there, but I really can't travel with my truck yet, much rather just keep it local, till I can trailer it places. My father came up with the idea of having a bead of silicone around the lip on the cap, and then letting it dry, and then put it on.

Any suggestions on were to run the Snorkle through? Just the side of the truck to the top, or what?

not enough water will get into the snorkle to make a difference (probably). i'm not sure if the 89 has the up draft air box, but that would make a huge difference. if you don't have the updraft air box and you're going to modify the intake this much, you may want to put one of those in anyway.

I just planned on probably just taking from the Throttle body to the outside and then to a K&N.

imo, if you think you're going to get in water where you'll need a snorkle, you should look into getting a mid 90's f150. the air travels up through the filter so the water doesn't usually fallow. saved my ass numerous times
