What have people used for material when making rear trailing links for Rovers?
I know places like SG are using 4130 but in order to get them engineered for rego I need to use something else and be able to prove it is adequate.
Anyone got numbers for loadings in a rear trailing link or numbers for straightening the 'kink' out of a SG trailing link or similar configuration?
I dont want to gusset the 'kink' unless I really have to, to put a gussett in means the bend will be further down the link than I want and will cause dramas at the diff end.
Thanks
Daryl.

Most of the Guys here on POR use 1020 or 1018 1.5" to 2" OD, .250 wall for links.

If your looking of metal specs this site is the one I use for info:

I got paranoid with using 1.5" x .25 DOM A513 Type 5, for my rear lower links...I started thinking that with the 42"'s and D70 that it wasn't enough...So I'm going to sleeve it with 1.75 x .120 AND a peice of 2" x .120...IMO lower link overkill cannot be overrated...(I have to be honest I don't know what type A513 is, but I think it's 1018...

O'yea...And if you have a kink...Toss the link...Or at least sleeve it with some .25 wall...And don't pay the $380 or so bucks for the SG links...You can build them for about $40 each...And that's IF you don't shop around.

it's 1020 . From the link I posted:

1020 DOM STEEL TUBE
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1020 is normally used in the manufacturing of small-diameter or thin-wall DOM steel tube. DOM is formed from strip and electric-resistance welded, then cold drawn to size. The cold drawing process causes the weld line to virtually disappear.
American Specifications: ASTM A513 Type 5

British Specifications: 040 A 20, 070 M 20

Applications: Mechanical, hydraulic cylinders, shaft, tight tolerance requirements

Size Range: 1/4" - 14&1/2" (6 mm - 368 mm) OD; .035" - .625" (.9 mm - 16 mm) wall
