I was just given a 77 CJ5. I gon't really know much about jeeps - all my projects have been Toyotas. Anyways, it has the 258 with a t-18 and dana300. Looks like a dana 35 in the front and I have no idea what the rear is... It has a round housing and to me looks like a model 20 but I am told it is not. Any ideas? This jeep is totally stock - nothing has been changed out. Also, I'd like to springover it - what are my options on steering. I was thinking of using the weld-on drag link tab (welds to the tie rod) from poison spider.

Basically, I am looking for tips on building this thing. I know all the Toyota secrets but nothing about jeep secrets.

If it is totally stock, then it doesn't have a D300. Its either a D20 or a Qtrac. If the rear diff is round, its an AMC20. Otherwise its a D44. The front is a D30.
